Layered Time
A scientific standard seems to be emerging on how to use our time efficiently. I thought that by following this precise schedule, I would become a person who was in perfect control of my time. But in fact, even if I forced myself to follow this plan, I couldn’t quite get my routine to match it. I realize that 'scientific schedules’ don’t apply to everyone, but it is the “Scientific Discourse” that we implicitly discipline our bodies to follow.
Keeping a visual diary has become my way of fighting the “Scientific Discourse”. I carefully record the little things in my life that are not worth mentioning and visualize these unplanned moments in my life. I present these images on sheets and chairs, which I use most often in my indoor life, and move them outside. This seemingly contradictory way of displaying them is akin to my ambivalence in wanting to follow a scientific schedule but not being able to.
